Learn, create, and connect through accessible game arts education.
About Our Workshops
Hand Eye Society’s workshops are part of our year-round programming, designed to make game development, digital art, and interactive storytelling accessible to everyone.
Whether you’re an aspiring indie game developer, an artist curious about interactive media, or simply someone who wants to explore new creative tools, our workshops are:
- Beginner-friendly: No prior experience required
- Affordable: Among the lowest-priced game arts workshops in Toronto
- Community-focused: Led by local creators, indie developers, and working artists
- Accessible: We offer online sessions and welcome those from all over
Your registration fee goes directly toward:
- Paying our instructors fairly, usually local creators and indie developers
- Supporting Hand Eye Society’s nonprofit mission to grow Toronto’s game arts scene
By attending, you’re not just learning a skill; you’re helping build a more inclusive, sustainable creative community.
What You Can Learn
We run a variety of hands-on, skill-building sessions throughout the year, including:
- Pixel Art: Learn how to draw and animate characters, environments, and effects
- Game Engines: Intro sessions on tools like Unreal Engine, Twine, and more
- Game Audio: Sound design fundamentals and implementation
- Grant Writing for Creatives: Learn how to find funding and apply with confidence
- Livestreaming: Share your creative work with the world

What Participants Say
“Just wanted to reach out and say thanks so much for the Grant Writing workshop. You answered all the questions I had, and I feel confident pursuing grants now!”
“Just want to give a give a shout out to Jordan Sparks for running his Intro to Livestreaming workshop. I went from being completely intimidated by OBS a couple years ago to a lot more comfortable within a couple hours. If you get an opportunity to check it out, I highly recommend it.”
